Allen Bennett Memorial Hosp used to sit at 313 Memorial Dr in Greer, SC, and for many years, folks knew it as a hospital and a place where people could get medical help in an emergency or for scheduled care, and the campus sat on a 10-acre lot along Wade Hampton Boulevard, with buildings that once served the community for general medicine, surgery, and nursing care, plus a related nursing home called Roger Huntington Nursing Home on the same site, and while the hospital stopped seeing patients after the Greenville Health System moved out in 2008 to open Greer Memorial Hospital, the spot stayed tied to healthcare for some time, offering things like long-term care, 24-hour nursing, and personal help for seniors, especially those with physical or mental needs. They used to run a hospital gift shop that sent flowers, balloons, plants, baskets, and edible gifts to patients' rooms, all delivered same-day, and the shop had gifts for new babies, birthdays, sympathy, and even weddings or patriotic holidays, including corsages and boutonnieres, and you could find funeral flowers, cremation and sympathy collections there, but all that's gone now, since the buildings were demolished to clear space for new uses.
