    Warm staff, great care, activities

I recently moved in and I'm very pleased. The staff are warm, professional, and often go beyond the call of duty - the care is consistently high-quality. The community feels clean, homey and secure with a screened porch, garden, and plenty of activities (videos, workshops, bingo); visitors and I are impressed and I look forward to my time here.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression Reviews convey a consistently positive impression of Vaughan Place Senior Living, with repeated emphasis on courteous, accommodating staff and what reviewers describe as high-quality care. The facility is frequently characterized as warm and home‑like, with cleanliness and attractive indoor and outdoor spaces noted by visitors. Activities, hospitality and general visitor experience are recurring strengths in the available feedback.

Care and staff Feedback highlights compassionate, professional staff who are perceived as attentive and eager to help. Statements that care goes “beyond the call of duty” and mentions of strong clinical care suggest families and residents feel clinically well supported. Admissions interactions are described as accommodating and professional, which indicates a generally positive management approach to new residents and their families.

Activities and dining The activity program is a clear strength: reviewers cite an outstanding, varied schedule (workshops, videos, bingo and other planned events) that contributes to resident engagement and a sense of happiness. Hospitality elements—snack offerings and friendly service—receive positive mention. However, the reviews focus more on snacks and hospitality than on a comprehensive assessment of the full dining program, so a complete evaluation of meal quality and menu variety is not available from these summaries.

Facilities and management Observers describe a clean, well‑maintained campus with a screened‑in porch, garden area and gated grounds; visitor impressions are uniformly favorable. Management is described as responsive and pleasant, contributing to a warm environment. The durable positive tone and long-term satisfaction statements (including extended tenures without expressed concerns) point to operational stability and effective everyday management.

Notable patterns and information gaps The available commentary leans strongly toward hospitality, social programming and interpersonal care strengths. Less information is present about certain operational and clinical details that prospective families commonly consider: explicit descriptions of specialized memory‑care programs, resident‑to‑staff and clinical staffing ratios (including RN coverage), comprehensive dining services beyond snacks, and specific medication‑management or emergency‑response protocols. Pricing and contract transparency are also not addressed in the feedback. Those seeking placement should verify these items directly with the provider to ensure alignment with specific clinical needs and contractual expectations.

    About Vaughan Place Senior Living

Vaughan Place Senior Living in Selma, Alabama, sits on 24 acres with cedar-lined streets, a quiet 1.7-acre lake, and single-story buildings that really give a small southern town feeling, and when you visit, you'll see tree-lined walkways and shaded porches where folks like to sit and chat. The gated entrance and no-through traffic setup help keep things feeling private and secure, while the grounds themselves offer walking paths, gardens, and sitting areas with hanging flower baskets and a screened porch full of rocking chairs for relaxing. The community has independent living at Cedar Lane Garden Homes for seniors who want to keep doing things on their own without worrying about fixing up the house, and it offers assisted living at Cedar Hill, along with memory care for people living with dementia or Alzheimer's. There are 32 assisted living units, all on the ground floor for easy access, and people can choose between private or shared rooms, some with their own bathrooms and kitchenettes, all with air conditioning and furnished or unfurnished options, and every unit has a 24-hour emergency call system so help's always close by.

Staff at Vaughan Place Senior Living provide help with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, and medication management, and they're around all day and night for support, working to keep things comfortable, safe, and welcoming with a joyful and helpful attitude. Folks get nutritious meals made with quality ingredients-sometimes even organic-served in a restaurant-style dining room that does its best to handle special diets for people with diabetes, allergies, or other needs, and there's always a focus on balanced nutrition, plus snacks. Housekeeping, laundry, linen, and even dry cleaning mean residents don't have to worry about chores, and there are transportation services for doctor's visits, errands, or going out on a group outing, so you don't feel stranded or stuck inside.

Memory care is available with staff trained to help seniors who have mild to advanced dementia, and the secure setup of Vaughan Place helps prevent wandering and confusion, all while keeping the environment as homey as possible. Medical care here might include medication management and regular health monitoring, and the facility also provides help with incontinence and diabetic care, and offers a hospice waiver for end-of-life support. People who can move around on their own but need a little help with things like showering or cooking won't feel rushed or fussed, since the care's geared to respect everyone's independence at their own pace, and the staff know that folks want to keep their dignity when they need support getting dressed or handling personal hygiene.

Apartments and suites are sized for privacy or sharing, with common rooms for folks to gather for activities or a good chat, and there are amenities like cable TV, phone and internet, a beauty/barber shop, a fitness center, and even a sunroom for reading or resting. Residents can expect regular wellness and exercise programs, arts and crafts, social events like game nights or movie nights, devotional activities, and lots of outings to local shops, churches, and attractions. The onsite healthcare facilities make coordination with outside doctors easy, and community-sponsored programs encourage people to keep moving, learning, and socializing, even if you just want to join a simple gardening group or sit in a warm common area with friends. From move-in help to daily support, the staff try to make everything as easy as possible, freeing people from daily worries so they can spend time enjoying the little things, like strolls around the lake or afternoons on the porch. Vaughan Place Senior Living has won "Best of Senior Living" awards for its efforts to create a supportive and compassionate place, but more than anything, it's the friendly faces and sense of belonging that seem to matter most to the people who call it home.
