    Spotless peaceful homelike compassionate staff

I'm very pleased with my parents' stay - the community is spotless, peaceful, and truly feels like home. The staff (Laura and the hospice nurses especially) were compassionate, professional, and went above and beyond to keep them comfortable; apartment-style rooms and lovely grounds made visits easy. I recommend this caring, family-friendly place.

    Summary of reviews

Highland Hills presents as a small, well-maintained senior living community with a homelike, apartment-style environment and visible attention to aesthetics and groundskeeping. Reviewers emphasize cleanliness, attractive landscaping, and thoughtful unit features such as large floor plans, balconies, private rooms, and guest accommodations. The community’s reputation and frequent waitlist indicate steady demand and a perception of quality in the local market.

Care and staff are repeatedly noted as strengths. Families describe nursing and hospice teams as compassionate, attentive, and thorough, with specific praise for end-of-life support and responsiveness to clinical needs. At the same time, a pattern of occasional variability in staff conduct and responsiveness is evident; while many interactions are described as professional and caring, some instances suggest inconsistency in how staff communicate or respond. This yields an overall impression of strong caregiving capacity with room for operational consistency improvements.

Dining is generally viewed favorably: the facility offers multiple dining areas, meals are provided, and food quality is often described as good. However, a few comments suggest limitations in meal frequency for certain residents or care levels, and one note highlighted unexpectedly high charges for short-term rehabilitation services. Prospective residents should clarify meal schedules and short-term rehab pricing during the tour and admissions discussions.

Activity offerings and community life present a mixed picture. The facility supports organized activities and transportation, and some reviewers found the program variety satisfactory. Conversely, several impressions point to a lower-activity, low-key atmosphere consistent with a smaller, tight-knit population; this results in quieter days and fewer visible resident activities during tours. Those seeking a highly active social calendar should confirm program frequency and participation levels in advance.

The physical layout has advantages and limitations. Many reviewers praised the interior and exterior upkeep and the peaceful setting, but others described a more compact footprint with narrower hallways and limited outdoor common areas. The facility’s apartment-style model and continuum-of-care capabilities support aging in place, though the spatial constraints may affect residents who prefer expansive outdoor amenities or more open corridor designs.

Management and operations receive generally positive notes for responsiveness and problem resolution; several accounts indicate management acts promptly when issues arise. At the same time, the community’s popularity has created limited availability and waiting lists. Prospective residents and families should discuss admission timelines, detailed fee structures, and any current renovation or upgrade plans.

In summary, Highland Hills is characterized by strong cleanliness and maintenance, a homelike apartment model with continuum-of-care options, and a staff that is often described as compassionate and effective—particularly in hospice care. Key operational considerations for families are activity levels appropriate to a quieter community, spatial limitations in some areas, variability in staff interactions, potential out-of-pocket costs for short-term rehab, and limited immediate availability. Visitors should use tours to verify activity engagement, meal schedules, staffing consistency, and cost details to determine fit with clinical and lifestyle priorities.
