    Peaceful lake facility, compassionate staff

I'm very pleased with this beautiful, well-kept, secluded facility - peaceful lake setting and resort-like atmosphere. The staff are compassionate, professional, and hands-on: they supported our move, communicate promptly, and provided excellent clinical care when my loved one needed a hospital transfer. Residents are engaged with thoughtful activities and good meals; I'd recommend this community to families seeking attentive, family-like care.

    Summary of reviews

Cedarhurst Senior Living of Canton is consistently described as a well-appointed, scenic assisted-living community with a strong emphasis on resident-centered care. Multiple accounts highlight a welcoming, family-like culture driven by compassionate caregiving staff and attentive administrative personnel. The facility’s physical environment—freshly furnished common areas, large dining room, and attractive lakefront grounds—receives repeated praise and contributes to a homelike atmosphere that many residents and families find comforting.

Clinical care and memory support are among the community’s notable strengths. Reviewers cite a capable nursing team, access to an on-call physician and nurse practitioner, and a memory-care unit with favorable staffing ratios and a dedicated coordinator. Families describe meaningful cognitive and social programming in memory care and generally positive clinical responsiveness, including timely recognition of acute symptoms. At the same time, some accounts indicate operational limits: Cedarhurst may be less well suited for residents requiring full-assist or very high-acuity care, and a subset of feedback points to delays or inconsistencies in personal-care tasks and bathing schedules.

Dining and related services are areas of mixed feedback. The community offers restaurant-style meals, menu variety, and personalized accommodation for allergies and dietary preferences; several families appreciate meal customization and friendly dining staff. Conversely, other families characterize the food as inconsistent in quality, with limited snack and beverage options between meals. Laundry service and room-level housekeeping are also inconsistent according to multiple comments—common areas are typically clean and well kept, but attention to detail in individual apartments appears variable.

Activity programming is generally a strong feature when staffed and led effectively. The community benefits from skilled activity directors who run crafts, exercise classes, outings, holiday events, and memory-focused engagement; these programs contribute to socialization and resident satisfaction. Nevertheless, a number of accounts describe long gaps between activities or an uneven weekly schedule, and several families would like more frequent outings and more individualized activity plans.

Operational and management patterns are mixed. Many reviewers praise courteous front-desk staff, proactive leadership, and low turnover among long-term employees. Conversely, there are recurring notes of communication gaps—particularly during initial move-in, ownership or staffing transitions, and after-hours periods—and operational snags tied to startup phases or new staff learning curves. Cost is another recurring theme: while many consider the pricing comparable to peers given the amenities and care, others perceive the community as expensive relative to expected consistency in housekeeping, meals, and higher-acuity supports.

In sum, Cedarhurst Canton presents as an attractive, well-staffed community with clear strengths in memory care, resident engagement, and campus environment. Prospective residents and families looking for strong social programming, a scenic setting, and attentive day-shift staff are likely to find a good fit. Those with higher medical needs, strict housekeeping or laundry expectations, tight after-hours communication requirements, or sensitivity to cost should evaluate clinical capability, staffing patterns (including weekends and nights), and operational consistency during a tour. When visiting, ask for current staffing ratios, sample menus and activity calendars, and references regarding housekeeping and laundry follow-through to verify the community’s operational fit for your specific needs.

About Cedarhurst Senior Living of Canton

Cedarhurst Senior Living of Canton sits in a peaceful part of Canton, Georgia, and tries to make life easier and safer for people 55 and older who need assisted living or memory care, and there's also help for those just wanting independent living or short-term stays like respite care or adult day care, if you need a little break as a caregiver or just a safe place during the day. The staff gets to know folks pretty well, often feeling like family, and they know how to care for people living with memory loss, since they get trained in dementia care all the time, so everyone from those needing a gentle nudge with daily tasks to those who have more complicated care needs gets the right help, even for things like help moving or taking medicine, with nurses on site and a doctor who can be called in too.

Residents live in apartments bigger than most places offer, with choices like studios, one- and two-bedroom units, or private and companion suites in memory care, and each place can have its own thermostat, walk-in shower, some even have kitchens or kitchenettes, and there are private porches and all utilities are included, which does make things easier. The property's safe, with a gated entry and secured areas in memory care to protect people who may wander or have behavioral issues, including technology like special bracelets that let staff know if someone's moved out of safe zones, which gives peace of mind for families. There are lovely outdoor walkways, covered patios with swings that look over a lake, courtyards, and spots to sit and chat or bring pets for a stroll-which pets are allowed, both cats and dogs, though there's a weight limit, and there's plenty of green space for them.

Meals come prepared by a resident chef, served in a restaurant-style dining room, and folks can give their own recipes or meal ideas, so you see menus that change with the seasons and offer choices for special diets like heart-healthy, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, or low-sodium, plus flexible hours and noteworthy desserts, and if someone doesn't feel up to eating out, meals can come to their room. Social life's pretty lively, too, because they fill the calendar with things like concerts, holiday parties, intergenerational visits, pet therapy, music groups, and fitness classes, and both in-house and outside activities like gardening, trivia, shopping trips, or religious programs, with transportation provided when you need to go out, and family members are encouraged to join in on events. Other comforts include a movie theater, media room with a cozy fireplace, full-service salon, activity rooms, a library, and special rooms for therapy and exercise programs, and for folks who need extra support, there are onsite therapy services to help with wellness or to work towards regaining strength.

Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance-free living come standard, so daily chores are taken care of, and staff gives help with personal care, walking, wheelchair use, transferring, and even behavioral care for those who need it. The memory care part of Cedarhurst gets special attention, with personalized care plans made with doctors and nurses checking in each week, full schedules of activities intended to help people with cognitive loss, educational programs for residents and families, and quiet spaces for when things get overwhelming, all inside a secured building that makes it possible for folks to age in place even if needs change with time.

There are parking spots for people who still drive, as well as plenty of transportation options for outings, errands, and appointments-plus the team sticks around all the time, day and night, and the community keeps things lively by partnering with local organizations and bringing in special programs, concerts, or guest speakers. Residents, families, and staff together try to make the place feel comfortable and safe, with a routine that helps everyone belong. There are also guides and tools available to help families understand pricing, what life is like at Cedarhurst, and what steps to take next, and there's always a way to ask for a tour to see things for yourself.
