    Clean, safe, caring, well-run facility

I found this facility safe, clean, and well organized. The staff were consistently kind, caring, and helpful-polite, compassionate caregivers who treated my loved one with high-quality attention and handled concerns promptly. Strong infection-control/COVID precautions, good food, and attentive operation made me very satisfied overall and comfortable recommending it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive about the direct caregiving experience, facility cleanliness, and safety, while showing clear and repeated concerns about front-line administrative responsiveness and communication. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the staff providing hands-on care are pleasant, hardworking, kind, and form meaningful relationships with residents. Reviewers report that residents received great care and emotional bonds were formed, as evidenced by emotional goodbyes. There is a consistent message that day-to-day care quality is strong and that the facility operates effectively when it comes to resident-facing services.

Care quality and staff behavior are the strongest themes. Reviewers repeatedly describe caregivers as friendly, kind, and genuinely caring for residents. Staff are singled out as being hardworking and attentive; several comments state that concerns raised were addressed and that staff appear to be treated well by management. That treatment of staff appears to translate into better resident care. One named employee, Pamela, received specific praise for being helpful and facilitating visits, indicating that some members of the administrative or admissions team are responsive and proactive. The presence of emotional goodbyes and specific mentions that staff cared for the resident underscore that personal relationships and continuity of care are important strengths of the Gardens at Foley.

Facility, dining, and safety impressions are favorable. Multiple reviewers describe the facility as clean, organized, and nice, with good food and an overall safe environment. Strong COVID precautions and infection control measures are called out positively, suggesting that the facility prioritized resident safety during the pandemic and maintained good practices. These operational strengths support the positive experience of residents and families and reinforce the perception of a well-run care environment in most aspects of daily living.

The clearest and most consistent negative theme concerns communication and responsiveness from the administrative side, especially around initial inquiries and admissions. Several summaries note poor responsiveness, a lack of callbacks or follow-up, unhelpful transfers when callers are routed between staff, and a general lack of information provided to prospective residents or families. There is an expressed sense of disinterest in new residents from some administrative interactions. This pattern suggests an inconsistency between the high quality of hands-on care and weaker performance in the front-end admissions and communications process. Pamela is mentioned as an example of helpful staff, implying that responsiveness exists inconsistently rather than uniformly.

A minority of comments include a negative reference to Edgewood with safety concerns, but that appears to be a comparison or comment about another facility rather than a direct criticism of the Gardens at Foley. It is noteworthy because it suggests some reviewers are comparing experiences across facilities and perceive Gardens at Foley favorably relative to at least one alternative.

Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a facility that provides strong, compassionate daily care, maintains cleanliness and infection controls, and offers good dining and a pleasant environment. The main operational gap is in initial contact and ongoing administrative communication; prospective residents and family members may encounter difficulties getting information or timely callbacks. For prospective movers, the implication is that resident life and caregiving are reliable strengths, but families should be prepared to escalate or seek out specific contacts (such as Pamela) when arranging visits or admissions to avoid frustration. Addressing front-desk responsiveness, standardizing callback procedures, and improving call-transfer protocols would likely convert the generally excellent hands-on reputation into uniformly positive experiences across all touchpoints.

    About The Gardens at Foley

The Gardens at Foley sits in Foley, Minnesota, and has 78 certified beds, serving people from the town and the nearby area, and folks find it's a place with a warm, community feeling, where the staff tries to focus on each person. The nursing home offers skilled nursing care, memory care for those living with Alzheimer's or other dementia, respite care for short stays, and therapy for people needing help to recover, and a lot of people say the staff shows real compassion and does their best for the residents. There's a therapy department that's known for a results-oriented approach, and the care plans get made for each resident's needs, with Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Dietary Aides, and Cooks all working together to keep residents healthy, fed, and comfortable. The Gardens at Foley is part of Monarch Healthcare Management, which runs for-profit facilities around Minnesota, and the same ownership runs the campus here, offering a continuum of care, which means residents can get different kinds of help all in one place, including Assisted Living, Rehabilitation, Long-Term Care, and Memory Care options.

The nurse staff to resident ratio averages about 3.52 hours per person each day, which can give residents some personal attention, though the nurse turnover rate is high at 57.6%, meaning the nursing team changes pretty often, and that can make things less stable sometimes. Over the years, the facility's inspection reports have listed 23 deficiencies, including 3 problems related to infection, so there's been a mix of good care and some noted issues-some of those can affect quality of life or care standards. The staff do seem dedicated to patient-focused care, and try to put residents and their families first, even as they work to improve. The Gardens at Foley provides services as part of a larger Monarch network, using a team approach and offering several job roles that keep the place running-it's not perfect, but it's a long-standing option for seniors needing different levels of care in Foley.
