    Excellent food, therapy, and care

I had an easy transition - my room was clean and ready. The food is excellent, therapy is effective, and staff provide reliable around-the-clock care. It's a great place for seniors and I'm very satisfied with our experience.

About Cerenity Care Center on Humboldt

Cerenity Care Center & Residence on Humboldt sits on a big 15-acre park-like campus in St. Paul with two main buildings, The Residence and The Care Center, and you'll find a long sidewalk to stroll and plenty of green space outside which makes it feel peaceful and open, and you'll see right away they offer lots of care options depending on what someone might need as they get older, like assisted living, memory care for people at the start or farther stages of memory loss, and a transitional care unit for those who need more help between a hospital stay and going home, and they also run skilled nursing, rehab after sickness or surgery, hospice, palliative care, adult day care, home health care, respite care, and more long-term supports too. Seniors live in one of the 114 apartments, picking from studio apartments, semi-deluxe rooms, and larger suites where there's a living room, bedroom, and sometimes built-in bookcases, and each apartment has its own bathroom, cable TV, private spaces, and rental meals are offered if wanted, and around the buildings, staff speak English and handle care plans to fit what the resident needs, with 24-hour nursing and basics like laundry, housekeeping, and long-term medication help, so families often say they feel pretty safe having loved ones here. The community has a smoke-free indoor policy and is pet-friendly, plus it's got things like a chapel, spiritual care services, beauty and barber shop, courtyard, elevators, lounges, and a cafeteria called the Humboldt Bluff Café where meals look more restaurant-style, and people take part in life enrichment programs, such as arts, crafts, card games, group activities, outings, movie nights with popcorn, exercise classes, and men's and women's groups. Some special programs include Eldergrow and transportation services, and folks can join programs for spiritual and social health, or visit the on-site gift cart. What makes the place stand out is how the staff-like the grievance leaders Rhonda Little and Nancy Lorenz, and the internal organizer Yankuba Fadera-emphasize respect, community, dignity, and teamwork, promoting the well-being and comfort of each person without making a big fuss about it, and while the facility isn't taking new patients at the moment, it works as part of the Benedictine senior care community with resources aimed at helping people manage life as they age in a clean, supportive place. Residents and their families can take virtual tours or check out the online photo gallery for a better idea of what it's like; the care team makes sure each resident's plan is personal, whether folks want independent living or full nursing support, memory care, or even just adult day services or a short stay after a hospital visit, and everyone can find a routine and get the support they're looking for in a setting that tries to be welcoming without a lot of fuss.

    About Benedictine

Cerenity Care Center on Humboldt is managed by Benedictine.

Benedictine, established in 1985 by the Benedictine Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth, Minnesota, has grown into one of the largest Catholic senior living organizations in the United States, operating over 35 communities across Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri. With annual revenues reaching billion, approximately 5,000 employees, and over million of senior living assets under management, this faith-based nonprofit organization has experienced significant expansion from a single skilled nursing facility to a multi-state healthcare network through strategic acquisitions, partnerships, sponsorship transitions, and joint ventures.

Under the leadership of President and CEO Jerry Carley, who joined in 2018 bringing over 35 years of senior care experience, Benedictine has maintained its position as an industry leader while preserving its Catholic heritage and mission-driven focus. Carley's leadership has earned significant recognition, including being named to The Minnesota 500 as one of the state's most powerful executives (2018-2020) and designation as one of Minnesota's Most Influential Health Care Leaders by Minnesota Physician Magazine in 2020. His extensive background includes previous roles as president and CEO of CSJ Initiatives and service on LeadingAge Minnesota's board of directors, where he serves as Chair.

Benedictine's innovative memory care program exemplifies their commitment to specialized care through two distinct neighborhoods: Tabitha, named after Sister Tabitha who was the first woman to head a hospital setting, which serves residents with mild to moderate memory loss, and Pauline, honoring Sister Pauline who devoted her life to dementia care, providing specialized support for those with moderate to advanced dementia. These research-based programs employ best practices in dementia care, offering engaging activities, personalized care plans, and family integration support. The organization's comprehensive service continuum extends to Adult Day Programs in Duluth and Winona, providing daytime respite care with trained memory care staff, while facilities like Benedictine Minneapolis specialize in complex medical care including tracheostomy and ventilator support.

The organization's care philosophy centers on nurturing mind, body, and spirit, rooted in Benedictine values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect, and Justice. This holistic approach emphasizes listening with the "ear of the heart," creating welcoming environments where unique needs are respected and each person's spirituality is honored. Through comprehensive rehabilitation services, spiritual care programs led by Director of Spiritual Care Rev. J. Scott Cartwright, and purposeful recreation incorporating art, music therapy, and movement, Benedictine continues the healthcare ministry begun by the Benedictine Sisters over a century ago. Recent strategic decisions, including the 2024 transition of Benedictine Living Community-Wausau to The Ensign Group, demonstrate the organization's commitment to ensuring sustainable, high-quality care while adapting to evolving market dynamics and maintaining their mission of empowering older adults to live to their highest potential.
