    Summary of reviews

The reviews reflect a polarized experience at this facility: a number of families praise individual caregivers, the facility’s appearance, and episodic administrative responsiveness, while many others identify recurring operational problems that affect safety, communication, and sanitation. Positive comments emphasize direct-care staff who are attentive, knowledgeable, and supportive of family needs, as well as areas of the building that appear modern and well maintained. Several families reported satisfactory rehabilitative services and noted staff assistance that enabled participation in family events.

Areas of concern center on operational consistency. Communication failures are a persistent theme: callers describe unanswered phones, missed admission contacts, delayed family notifications following clinical events, and transfers or room changes that occurred without timely family consultation. These communication gaps extend to incident reporting and discharge processes, creating stress for families seeking updates or clarification about care decisions.

Staffing and clinical care show substantial variability. Multiple narratives indicate understaffing, rapid staff turnover, and morale problems; reviewers link those staffing patterns to delays in attending to residents, elevated fall risk, and inconsistent clinical practices such as wound and diabetes-related care. There are also specific concerns about transfer safety and reassessment practices. While some caregivers demonstrate competence and compassion, the uneven staffing undermines consistent, reliable care for medically complex residents.

Sanitation and food service are additional recurring themes. Several accounts describe odor concerns in common areas, linens and room-cleaning lapses, and kitchen hygiene deficiencies that raise infection-control worries. Meal quality and kitchen cleanliness are described as inconsistent, which can affect resident satisfaction and nutritional intake. Facility areas vary in condition: some reviewers praise updated exteriors and clean common spaces, while others describe dated or industrial-feeling rooms and cramped accommodations.

Management and culture-related issues underlie many negative comments. Reviewers cite abrupt leadership changes, perceived profit-focused decisions, and instances where families felt excluded from care decisions. There are also reported problems with resident belongings and property controls that families found troubling. Regulatory and survey-related concerns were mentioned by several families and suggest that oversight and quality-improvement processes may need strengthening.

For prospective residents and families: this facility shows strengths in individual caregiver relationships and certain physical amenities, but there are notable patterns of inconsistent communication, staffing shortages, sanitation and kitchen-control weaknesses, and variability in clinical care—especially for residents with complex medical or dementia-care needs. Those considering placement should request the facility’s most recent staffing levels, infection-control and kitchen inspection records, incident-reporting procedures, and examples of family-communication protocols. An in-person visit focusing on mealtime, staff-resident interactions, room accommodations, and how the facility communicates after clinical events will help assess whether the current operational environment meets the prospective resident’s needs.

    About Edgewood Manor

Edgewood Manor, located at 11900 Jessica Lane in Raytown, Missouri, is a nursing home and senior living community with 84 facility beds that provides both assisted living and memory care, and you'll find it's both Medicaid- and Medicare-certified, which means they'll work with a variety of payment types, such as private pay, private insurance, and hospice as well. The facility offers short-term respite and rehabilitation stays along with long-term care, so whether someone needs help with daily activities for a short while or needs more permanent support, Edgewood Manor offers skilled nursing services around the clock, which include things like help with bathing, dressing, grooming, as well as more advanced care such as IVs, tube feeding, wound care, and post-operative care, and they're able to help people using mechanical lifts for those who have limited mobility or can't stand on their own, even though they don't have set written policies for how they handle or store the equipment, like charging batteries. The nurses and team of professionals, including therapists, dieticians, and pharmacists, look over residents' needs and make individualized care plans, and a medical director who's a licensed physician supervises resident care to help keep things as safe as possible, while licensed nurses are on duty 24 hours to provide health care support, medication management, diabetic care, incontinence care, bariatric care, and more, with therapy services including occupational, physical, speech, cognitive, and restorative therapies. Residents can get help with housekeeping, personal laundry, transportation for appointments and outings, and there's an emergency call system in place, cable TV hookups, and air conditioning in their rooms, with additional amenities such as indoor common areas, a courtyard, lounge or day room, restrooms, and designated smoking areas, so there are places to gather, get fresh air, or relax if they want to. The dining program includes meals provided daily, but for over a month now residents have been eating from disposable Styrofoam dishware since the facility's been having ongoing dishwasher repairs that aren't yet finished, even though Edgewood Manor usually tries to provide a homelike dining experience and avoid using disposables whenever they can. The facility supports religious needs with devotional services on-site and off, and there's a barber and beautician available, as well as social activities and memory care programs focused on individuals with mental illnesses alongside medical needs. Edgewood Manor is wheelchair accessible and has parking available for customers, and accepts residents from the elderly geriatric community, including those with medical and mental health diagnoses, and the whole place is managed by Reliant Care Management Company, with Administrator Theresa Love. Residents have the option to access a variety of health and clinical services, like optometry, podiatry, dentists, pharmacy, case management, X-rays, hospice, and supportive care. The current public review score for Edgewood Manor is 0.5 stars from 4 reviews, and prices aren't published.
