    Caring staff, clean cozy home

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased - the staff are genuinely caring and attentive, treat residents like family, and made the transition smooth. The home is clean and cozy, Chef Dan's meals are excellent, and activities (music, outings, events) keep people engaged. Communication is good, the memory care/day respite options brought us real peace of mind, and Amber and the team go above and beyond. I'd recommend this warm, safe place where my mom is happy and well cared for.

    Summary of reviews

Lakewood Senior Living presents as a small, staff-focused community with consistent strengths in direct care, social programming, and dining. Across reviews families describe caregiving staff as compassionate, attentive, and long-tenured; reviewers frequently cite individualized attention, staff who learn residents' preferences, and a high staff-to-resident ratio that supports daily needs. The facility includes a locked memory-care unit with tailored programming and many families report that their relatives are safe, content, and socially engaged.

The activity and dining programs are prominent positives. The center offers a broad range of events — daily activities, musical performances, bingo, group games, therapy-animal visits, and organized outings — often described as thoughtfully run by an engaged activities director. Meals are commonly praised; a consistent comment is that the culinary team provides hearty, satisfying food and occasional special meals for visiting family. Snack availability and visitor meal options are additional conveniences that reviewers valued.

Facility conditions are mixed. Interior common areas and routine housekeeping are frequently described as clean and well-kept, contributing to a home-like environment. At the same time the building appears older: private rooms tend to be small or dim, some semi-private rooms are tight, and carpeting/finishes vary by unit. A number of reviewers noted exterior maintenance items (sidewalk repairs, landscaping) and occasional concerns about evening heating in resident rooms. Prospective families should confirm room layouts and inspect specific units during a tour.

Operational patterns show generally strong onsite leadership and hands-on staff, but reviewers also described isolated administrative and safety concerns. A number of families praised the onsite management and smooth transitions under particular administrators, while others reported billing or appointment-scheduling friction and variable responsiveness from corporate channels. A small number of serious incident-related complaints were raised concerning personal-item security and supervision in cognitive-care areas; these appear atypical amid broader positive feedback but warrant direct inquiry. During a visit, families should ask about incident escalation procedures, personal-belonging safeguards, staffing during high-risk hours, and documentation practices.

In short, Lakewood Senior Living is best characterized as a community with a strong, attentive caregiving culture, a robust activities calendar, and a well-regarded dining program, housed in an older but generally clean facility. Key decision points for prospective residents are room size and layout, amenity expectations relative to larger competitors, pricing, and clarification of administrative and safety protocols. Asking targeted questions about specific rooms, supervision in memory care, and billing/communication processes during a tour will help families determine fit.
