    Summary of reviews

Brentmoor Retirement Community is consistently described as a warm, social, and well-managed option that emphasizes personalized attention. The dominant theme across reviews is the quality of staff interactions: employees are characterized as compassionate, attentive, and familiar with residents’ names and preferences. Move-in assistance and transition support are highlighted as strong operational features, and several families describe an immediate sense of welcome and fast social integration for new residents.

Clinical and care-related services extend beyond basic independent living: the community offers multiple care levels, on-site occupational and physical therapy, medication-management knowledge among staff, and coordinated end-of-life/hospice support when needed. Safety practices such as daily checks and a Do Not Disturb tag system are noted. These clinical supports, paired with a family-like atmosphere, contribute to a general confidence in residents’ well-being; reviewers consistently describe feeling secure and cared for.

Dining and programming are strong points. The dining program receives repeated praise for quality food, an accomplished kitchen staff, and the ability to accommodate special diets. Social dining (large dining room, buffets, themed meals) is an important element of community life. Activities are described as varied and stimulating — exercise classes, bingo, movie nights, outings with a driving service, clubs, and resident meetings — fostering easy socialization. A small-community scale supports frequent interaction and quicker familiarity among residents.

Facilities are a mixed picture. Apartments are frequently described as spacious with generous closet space, balconies or porches, and in-unit kitchens; some units are upgraded and offer attractive views. At the same time, the property is a converted older building, and reviewers repeatedly note dated decor, uneven updates between units, and ongoing cosmetic maintenance needs. Practical limitations include constrained parking (often limited to one car per resident), basement laundry logistics, and the absence of certain amenities like a pool. The building’s urban siting near a major road contributes to an "urban feel" that may include traffic exposure.

Operational patterns to be aware of include premium pricing and the perception that cost is a significant factor for prospective residents. Reviewers also raised scheduling friction between pre-dinner social events and meal service timing, which can create tight transitions for residents. A few mentions of staff turnover suggest periodic continuity challenges, though the overall assessment of staff competence and responsiveness remains positive.

Management and leadership receive favorable mention, with staff at the front desk and marketing/leadership personnel commended for responsiveness and professionalism. The community’s strengths—attentive staff, strong dining, active programming, and a supportive social environment—make it a compelling option for people seeking a small, engaged retirement setting with available clinical supports. Prospective residents should balance those strengths against the facility’s age-related maintenance needs, parking constraints, apartment layout choices, and the higher cost of residency when evaluating fit.

    About Brentmoor Retirement Community

Brentmoor Retirement Community sits in a high-rise building at Delmar and I-70 in mid-St. Louis County and offers senior living in a comfortable, home-like setting, with 72 spacious apartments that come in studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans, so residents don't have long hallways to walk but do get plenty of closet space, their own kitchens, and private apartments to help keep things feeling safe and personal. Pets are allowed here, so people who have small animals can still bring them along, and there's a strict no-smoking policy in all indoor areas, both public and private, to help keep the air clean. Meals are provided for all residents, and the Executive Chef works hard to make sure folks get chef-prepared dishes, snacks, and fresh fruits and vegetables while everyone enjoys gourmet dining together or at happy hour in the evenings. The staff includes the Executive Director, Executive Chef, Resident Care Manager, Sales Director, Maintenance Director, Activities Coordinator, Business Office Manager, and a bunch of other fully trained, friendly staff members who are there to help around the clock, as they make sure everyone's needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

Brentmoor offers independent living, assisted living, care homes, respite care, skilled nursing, memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, home care, hospice care, rehabilitation services, and a continuing care retirement community model that lets folks move between care levels while staying on the same campus. Assisted living residents get support with personal care, medicine reminders, showering, companionship, and other daily tasks, with 24-hour personal assistance and a personal alert system for extra safety, and staff create individualized care plans so help matches each person's needs. Doctors are on call, and there's a focus on offering as much independence as possible, with staff encouraging residents to stay active and connected.

Residents have access to a big list of amenities, including beauty and barber services at the on-site beauty shop, regular exercise classes and wellness programs, a computer lab, a full library, indoor and outdoor common areas, and both scheduled and complimentary transportation to medical appointments, shopping, community trips, and local outings, with resident parking available, too. The activities calendar stays busy, offering things like social events, educational programs, evening happy hours, community trips, life enrichment activities, and even devotional services held offsite, so there's almost always something to do for those who want to take part, with both onsite and offsite options. Housekeeping and maintenance are part of the regular routine, keeping apartments tidy and safe, and weekly cleaning helps everyone feel settled and comfortable in their living space. The apartments and showers are wheelchair accessible to support mobility, and staff make sure residents feel heard and welcome by encouraging suggestions about daily life and activities.

Brentmoor Retirement Community supports residents in living healthy, active, purposeful lives by offering social opportunities, nutritious meals, transportation, healthcare support, and a range of care options, so residents can make new friends, stay connected, or enjoy peace and quiet as they prefer. There's a minimum age requirement, and staff can help explain things like how to pay for senior living, insurance, government benefits, or the option of selling a house, with resources that include glossaries, caregiver support, and even a documentary about planning the next stage of life. All these services, amenities, and programs are designed to help seniors keep their independence while knowing help is always close by, and while nothing in life is perfect, Brentmoor's staff do seem to care about keeping residents safe, comfortable, and involved.
