    Spotless community with attentive staff

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased - the community is spotless and well kept, with friendly, professional, long-tenured staff who are attentive and responsive. The on-site chef and varied meals, strong medication/housekeeping support, plenty of activities, secure grounds, and great family communication make it a solid choice for quality senior care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Families and residents repeatedly praise the staff for being friendly, caring, patient, and attentive; many reviews highlight long-tenured employees and stable management, which contributes to consistent, reliable care. Multiple accounts describe dramatic improvements in residents’ well-being after moving in, and reviewers frequently emphasize the staff’s communicative approach with families, prompt responsiveness, and an exceptional move-in experience. Security features such as secure check-in and entry codes and specific safety measures like tornado-safe rooms are noted and appreciated.

Care quality and daily living services receive consistent commendation. Reviews mention skilled medication management, personal care assistance (dressing and hygiene), and housekeeping and laundry as included services. Memory care programming is highlighted as robust, with activities tailored to residents, and reviewers specifically note that the community coordinates well with hospice when needed. Many families state that staff do not push for unnecessary care level upgrades, a point presented as evidence of integrity and family-centered decision making.

Dining is a recurrent strength. The community offers three meals a day, an on-site chef, multiple menu options, and attention to dietary restrictions. Meals are served at tables in a dining-room format (with assigned seating), which many reviewers like for the structure and social aspect; some families appreciate affordable guest dining and the convenience of a nearby pharmacy that fills prescriptions with no extra charge. Several reviewers specifically say their loved ones "love the food." The dining program contributes to a family-like atmosphere and social engagement.

Facilities and apartments are described as clean, organized, and attractively decorated both inside and out. One- and two-bedroom apartments with storage and windows are available, and grounds are noted as beautiful. Common areas are kept uncluttered, and reviewers describe the overall community as calm, peaceful, and well maintained. At the same time, a few reviewers mention the layout as having a darker floor plan in spots and call attention to the lack of seating in some hallways.

Activities and social life are strong points: reviewers list many daily activities and entertainment options (bowling, ball games, themed and seasonal events such as a fall mini-fair and a carnival for grandchildren), church services on Sundays, and inter-resident social interactions. The community is described as family-friendly, with events geared toward families and grandchildren, and many reviewers say residents are engaged and enjoy the programming.

Value and reputation are repeatedly noted. Several reviewers say Sommerset provides good value compared with more expensive options, and multiple recommendations come from community members and local church networks. Move-in communication and ongoing family communication receive high marks, and the overall reputation among reviewers is excellent, with numerous explicit recommendations.

Notable patterns of concern are limited but worth mentioning. A minority of reviewers felt the floor plan was dark in parts or that the community felt less "homey" than other, smaller-scale options. Assigned seating in the dining room, while appreciated by many for structure, was seen as restrictive by a few and contributed to at least one family deciding the community was not the best fit for their loved one. Physical layout issues such as hallways with few places to sit were raised, and a handful of reviews simply noted that Sommerset was not the right fit for a specific resident — a normal consideration given differing resident needs and preferences.

In summary, the reviews portray Sommerset Neighborhood Assisted Living and Memory Care as a well-run, clean, and safe community with strong, long-term staff, excellent communication, robust dining and activity programs, and good value. The most frequent praises concern staff quality and attentiveness, the variety and quality of meals, effective memory-care programming, and a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere. The primary drawbacks reported by a minority are related to personal fit, some aspects of physical layout (lighting and hallway seating), and the structured dining arrangement. For families prioritizing experienced staff, reliable care, active programming, and good value, Sommerset is overwhelmingly recommended; families seeking a cosier, more home-like small-community feel or different dining flexibility may want to tour alternatives as well.

    About Somerset Neighborhood

Sommerset Neighborhood Assisted Living and Memory Care sits in Oklahoma City and provides care for seniors needing assisted living and memory care, and the place has a focus on helping people live on their own terms, letting folks make decisions about their day while staying safe and supported. Meals come three times a day, cooked on site and tailored for nutrition and special diets, and snacks are handed out twice a day, which provides a good routine for residents who like structure but also some choice. There are indoor common rooms where people gather, and outside spaces are there for fresh air, while secure doors and alarm systems help keep everyone safe, especially those who have memory loss and might wander.

Private suites give residents their own space, and those rooms come in different sizes, so there's a fit for both singles and couples, and basic utilities, apartment maintenance, and pre-wired cable TV help keep things simple. Housekeeping happens regularly, with beds made every day, laundry done three times a week, and a deeper cleaning once a week, so residents don't have to worry about the chores piling up. Nursing staff hold the proper licenses and certifications, and they're around all day and night, every day of the week, handling everything from medication to checking blood pressure, weight, and other health needs, and there are monthly doctor visits as well as dieticians if someone needs advice on eating better.

Sommerset offers general and assisted living services, including hands-on help with bathing, dressing, eating, getting around, and taking medicine, and reminder services make sure people don't miss meals, activities, or appointments, even if their memory isn't what it used to be. Those who live with dementia or Alzheimer's get memory care in a home-like setting, with secure outdoor areas so they can still move around freely, and the building itself has cues in the floor plan to help everyone get where they want to go with less confusion. The activities calendar includes things like themed parties, arts and crafts, Bingo, faith-based services, and outdoor groups, aiming to keep everyone's mind and body active, and the team's known for being friendly and making a point of knowing each person, so residents don't just feel like a number.

If someone gets sick, there's a tray service brought right to the room for meals, and families and friends are encouraged to stay connected and involved in their loved one's daily life. Sommerset supports folks at different care levels, so if someone's needs change, they often don't have to move, and the setup is meant to feel cozy and familiar instead of overwhelming, with extra care when it's needed. All in all, Sommerset Neighborhood Assisted Living and Memory Care tries to make life comfortable, secure, and as independent as possible for seniors who need some help, while providing enough support so families can worry less and residents can focus on what matters to them.
