    Pleasant well maintained community, recommended

I toured this community for my mom and was very pleased. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and thorough, answering all my questions and providing brochures and local support resources. The campus is beautiful and well-maintained - park-like grounds, wooded areas, a gated walking yard, pleasant rooms with views, spacious common areas and safe bathrooms with rails. Dining is strong with on-site home-style meals, casual restaurant service and snacks, and activities are plentiful (yoga, aerobics, nature walks, games and music). I felt reassured and would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews describe a facility with many positive elements alongside operational inconsistencies. Strengths cited include a home-like atmosphere, a pleasant campus and grounds, and a range of communal spaces and amenities. Dining is commonly characterized as home-style and prepared on-site with casual restaurant-style options and accessible snacks. Activity programming is broad, spanning arts, music, group games, and several low-impact exercise options.

Care and staff: Caregiving and clinical staff are frequently described as attentive and knowledgeable, and admissions personnel are noted for providing helpful information and local support resources. At the same time, reviewers point to variability in staff conduct and responsiveness and to lower staffing levels in some circumstances. Those patterns suggest generally capable caregivers but inconsistent day-to-day availability and communication, which could affect families differently depending on timing and unit.

Facilities and safety: Physical attributes vary between newer and older parts of the community. Positive descriptions include updated décor, pleasant resident rooms with views, well-maintained common areas, and park-like wooded grounds with a gated walking yard. Conversely, there are accounts indicating maintenance gaps and outdated sections that require renovation. Safety-related equipment upkeep is a concern in some accounts; prospective residents should confirm the presence and inspection schedules for grab bars, rails, and other assistive features.

Dining and activities: Meals are a consistent strength, with on-site cooking and a mix of healthy home-style options and casual dining settings. Activity offerings are diverse, including yoga, aerobics, nature walks, music, games, and crafts. There is, however, a desire among some reviewers for expanded or more structured physical-activity programming and greater frequency of higher-intensity options.

Management and oversight: Admissions and informational support are generally handled well, with brochures and local resource guidance available. At the same time, some accounts identify gaps in supervision and management practices that correlate with inconsistent caregiver performance and maintenance issues. These suggest variability in operational oversight across different wings or buildings.

What to ask when touring: Confirm current staffing ratios and how staffing fluctuations are managed; ask about routine maintenance and safety-equipment inspection schedules; verify whether private in-room bathrooms are available in the unit you are considering; review activity schedules with emphasis on physical and higher-intensity offerings; and request recent examples of how management addresses resident concerns and maintenance requests. These checks will help families understand whether the particular building or unit aligns with their expectations for safety, oversight, and daily programming.

    About Country Terrace of Wisconsin

Country Terrace of Wisconsin is a small, home-like senior living community with 16 beds and a focus on providing both assisted living and memory care for older adults who need help with things like dressing, bathing, and managing medication, and the place sits close to local medical facilities, shopping, and dining, which really helps with easy access to outside services, though you'll find most day-to-day support and comfort right there. Residents can choose between private or shared suites, all climate-controlled with phone jacks and cable, and they'll have plenty of common areas, a communal dining room, outside patio sitting spots, a large, gated backyard, and walking paths for taking in fresh air or enjoying the gardens. The building's fully accessible for wheelchairs and has secure areas to keep residents-especially those in the memory care program-safe from wandering, and emergency alert systems and 24-hour supervision add peace of mind for families. Daily life is pretty well taken care of with regular housekeeping, laundry, move-in help, and meal options that include three home-cooked meals every day, snacks, dietician-made menus for different health needs, and even options for special diets or resident meal requests, which can really help people feel more at home.

There's a busy activities calendar too, with arts, crafts, exercise, outings, music, movie nights, board games, picnics, pet therapy, and holiday parties, along with smaller things like coloring, baking, and special reminiscence programs for people with memory issues, and salon services right there for a haircut or some pampering. Staff help with everything from personal care and dressing to daily walks and recreation, and they're ready at all hours for anyone who needs extra support, which includes coordination with outside healthcare providers and medication management. The memory care wing's secure and designed to ease confusion or wandering, plus it gives 24/7 support for folks living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. The facility aims to help each person stay as independent as possible, and they recognize that every resident comes with different needs, so there's flexibility in care, and the atmosphere stays focused on treating everyone with dignity and warmth, like an extended family. The place shows up as a verified and currently licensed facility, making it a reliable choice for seniors in need of support. Country Terrace is also part of a larger organization that works on advocacy, legal support, and training, with a provider directory and lots of resources, including programs for workforce development and communication, and there are plenty of healthcare job opportunities there for those interested. Altogether, the community brings together security, comfort, nutritious food, and social activities to help residents live as fully and safely as they can.
