Linwood Community, A Ministry of Fox Valley Lutheran Homes, helps people aged 62 and older live on their own for as long as they can in the Fox Cities area, and you'll see right away that they're focused on respect, safety, and Christian values, because they mix caring staff and volunteers who drive folks to appointments, help with shopping, walk dogs, cook meals, and handle cleaning, plus you can count on a nurse being around twice a week to answer questions and help with safety in your place, and people who live there or join their community meals can get blood pressure checks, health programs, and referrals from registered nurses right at the tables, which helps everyone keep up with their health. They run the big "Faith In Action" outreach, which picks up calls for help, checks into what people need by sending nurses to do assessments, and matches people up with the right kind of support, whether they live there or in nearby neighborhoods, and the whole idea is to keep people independent for as long as they're able, which means offering things like the "Living With Assistance" program, where folks get the help they need but still keep control of their day-to-day life.

The rooms are studios, single rooms, or two-bedrooms, with washers and dryers, kitchens or kitchenettes, ranges, dishwashers, air conditioning, cable TV, and some have balconies overlooking the grounds or the park, and every apartment has basement storage, so people can keep their extra things safely out of the way, along with locked foyer entry and intercoms for security. Seniors can choose independent living, assisted living, or board and care; if they've got memory problems like dementia or Alzheimer's, there's a dedicated memory care area with secure doors, special activities, and trained staff helping out 24 hours a day, and for people who need a break or extra help for a little while, they offer respite care. Folks dealing with wounds, needing rehabilitation, or looking at major health challenges can get skilled nursing, with nurses on-site at all times, plus there's help with medicine, meals, getting dressed, and all those daily chores that can get hard to manage alone. The community is non-smoking, allows cats, and offers a quiet and welcoming place based on mutual respect, with lots of activities every week, from church services and Bible studies to exercises, games, bingo, flu shot clinics, foot care, and family gatherings, all usually happening in the big Commons area.

Residents aren't left feeling alone because the staff and volunteers put a lot of effort into making sure everyone can connect with others, enjoy hobbies, and stay social, whether it's a group meal, a party, or just chatting in the activity room or walking the landscaped grounds, and you'll notice the building's got safety features like handrails, sprinklers, and wheelchair accessibility. There's inside mail delivery, garbage collection, custodial and yard work taken care of, parking underground for those who drive, and guest lots for visitors. Anyone who lives there can ask for housekeeping, transportation, and personal care support. The ministry works to help moderate-income seniors, so the rent isn't as high as at some other places, and the goal is to keep people in their own homes as long as it's safe, with lots of help finding community resources and outside programs as needed. Faith is a core part of their mission, and everything they do aims to nurture the mind, body, and spirit while ending the isolation that some older adults feel, so people can stay connected, comfortable, and secure among new friends and familiar faces.
