    Warm attentive community excellent care

I toured this senior living community for my mother and came away very pleased - warm, personable staff, plenty of RNs on site, and genuinely attentive, respectful care. The facility is clean and updated with spacious one-bedrooms, a peaceful wooded setting, lots of activities and music, a coffee shop and convenience store, shuttle service, and on-site therapy options. Food and dining are good, residents seem happy and engaged, and I'm comfortable moving forward with my mother's next chapter here.

    Summary of reviews

The Heritage presents as a well-appointed senior living campus with strong clinical resources and a broad amenity set. Reviewers commonly highlight a high CNA-to-resident ratio and 24/7 RN coverage, on-site physical therapy (and access to speech therapy), and an on-campus continuum of care that includes assisted living, skilled nursing and hospice. Transportation services, including a shuttle and an on-site bus for medical appointments, plus concierge-style amenities such as a cafe, bistro, convenience store and private dining areas contribute to a resort-like environment. The grounds and new or renovated common areas are described as attractive and peaceful, with walking trails and pleasant views.

Staff and direct care are frequent strengths in the commentary: many families describe warm, personable caregivers, multiple RNs on staff, attentive CNAs, and a community-oriented atmosphere. Reviewers praise the activity calendar — live music, orchestra performances, hiking clubs, games and arts programs — as well as clean, updated apartments and thoughtful apartment features (storage, in-unit A/C in many units, renovated woodwork). Several accounts emphasize perceived value for cost, ease of moving in compared with other local options, and successful hospital transfers when higher acuity care is needed.

At the same time, consistent themes of variability and policy friction emerge. Staffing and responsiveness are uneven across accounts: while some families report consistent nurses and close caregiver relationships, others describe delays in staff responsiveness and variability in CNA professionalism. Nursing continuity is similarly mixed. Dining is another area of divergence — the facility offers multiple dining venues and positive meals for many, but there are also descriptions of limited dining availability, inconsistent meal quality, and gaps in cafeteria services or fruit/side offerings. Families should confirm current meal schedules and offerings during a tour.

Administrative and policy issues are noteworthy operational patterns to investigate before decision-making. Several reviewers raised concerns about unclear definitions of assisted living levels, abrupt relocation requirements or substantial hourly charges when care needs increase, and inflexibility around visitation or dining access at times. Some accounts describe high-pressure sales tactics or rigid contract and change-notice policies. There are also isolated maintenance and amenity-upkeep issues (for example, intermittently nonfunctional devices or limited in-room reception), and a mix of apartment sizes that could affect expectations about unit space.

Bottom line: The Heritage is a well-equipped, community-oriented facility with strong clinical staffing on paper, extensive amenities, and an active social program that suits residents seeking an engaging, comfortable campus. Prospective residents and families should tour multiple units, clarify level-of-care definitions and transfer/fee policies in writing, ask about current staffing and dining schedules, and review contract and visitation terms to ensure the operational practices align with their expectations.

    About The Heritage

The Heritage, found on a calm, wooded campus at Peabody Manor, is a senior living community where residents can choose from several care levels, such as independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing home services, making it a comfortable spot for many different needs all under one roof, and there's even Medicare-certified skilled nursing care for short or long-term recovery. Folks who live here find studio, single-room, or two-bedroom options, with some rooms set up like neighborhoods that share kitchens, dining rooms, and sun porches, plus open common areas with fireplaces, two enclosed courtyards, activity and game rooms, and gathering spaces for everyone to meet and enjoy. The staff, who are known for being joyful, helpful, and especially kind, support people with daily needs, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, medication help, diabetic management, and incontinence care, and those who need more support will have help with wound care, IV therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, hospice, and pain management, so nobody's left feeling like a burden or alone in what they need, and there's always someone around with 24-hour care available.

For meals, licensed dietitians plan menus, chefs use quality ingredients, and they prepare food to meet specific dietary needs, whether someone lives fully independently, in assisted living, or in memory care, and folks can enjoy meals in comfortable dining areas with others or in their own space if that feels better. There's a fitness center, therapy gym, chapel, and beauty salon on the grounds, while the shared kitchen and laundry rooms make daily life easy for those wanting less bother with chores, and safety is supported with handicap features, sprinkler systems, medication management, and personal care assistants for mobility and walking wheelchair help. The Heritage and Peabody Manor Community both offer laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, cable TV, Wi-Fi, maintenance, and transportation for doctor visits or personal outings, and the property has guest parking so family or friends can always visit.

Devotional activities are held on-site in the chapel, giving spiritual comfort, and there are plenty of programs for social, mental, and physical engagement, like arts and crafts, games, educational classes, group meals, and community events. Seniors who want to enjoy their day without worrying about cooking or cleaning can pick independent living, while folks needing extra support have assisted living options; memory care is designed for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, including secure spaces and attentive staff, and nursing home services are for those requiring ongoing healthcare.

In-home care, with trained aides providing companionship and help in seniors' own houses, is another service by The Heritage, and the community works with ThedaCare for high-level medical and rehab services and offers extra programs like Diabetic Support, Home Medical Equipment, and ThedaCare At Home, so care can adjust as residents' needs change. The sense of belonging grows with regular evening dinners, friendly conversations, a family-like feel, and a good mix of privacy and company, making The Heritage a solid choice for seniors who want support but also value freedom and friendships where people are understanding and staff enjoy caring for each other as much as for residents.
