    Warm attentive staff, home-like environment

I placed my mom in this community and have been very pleased. The staff - Laci, Rachel, Pam, Tracy and many others - are genuinely kind, treated my mom like family, and went above and beyond (even supporting us through bereavement). Administration and the DON are hands-on and communicative, sending updates and photos that eased caregiving stress. The memory-care program feels home-like: delicious restaurant-style meals, loads of activities, beautiful grounds, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere - I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Courtyards at Claremore presents as a community with a strong emphasis on person-centered, dementia-capable care and a homelike atmosphere. A consistent theme in the feedback is appreciation for warm, familial staff–resident relationships, low staff turnover, and visible involvement from administrative and clinical leadership. Families commonly describe smooth transitions, clear communication, and regular updates that contribute to reduced caregiver stress.

Care and staffing: Reviewers emphasize compassionate caregiving and a stable staff complement, which supports predictable daily routines important for residents with memory impairment. Clinical oversight appears active, with medication management and physician-team involvement mentioned positively. However, staffing consistency is a recurring operational concern: reviewers note lower staffing levels at certain times (weekends) and occasional lapses in staff conduct or policy enforcement. There is also a pattern indicating the facility may not be able to accommodate residents who require higher-acuity or elevated skilled nursing care.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently highlighted as a strength — restaurant-style service, flexible menu options, and the ability to request substitutions. Most families and residents report enjoying meals and the social dining environment, though there are occasional comments about limited menu variety or an occasional meal not meeting expectations. The activities program is another strong point: a long-tenured activity director runs a varied calendar that includes live music, choir, crafts, games, chair exercises, and off-site outings. These offerings support social engagement and contribute to a lively community atmosphere.

Facilities and amenities: Physically, the community is described as attractive, clean, and well-maintained in many areas, with large, private apartments, an inviting courtyard, and on-site salon services. Weekly housekeeping and laundry pickup are noted as convenient, and the secure entry system is viewed positively. That said, maintenance consistency is mixed — some reviewers cite worn carpeting or uneven updates across the building — and there are occasional sanitation-related and pet-policy issues that suggest variable enforcement of facility standards.

Management and notable patterns: Many families praise hands-on administration, responsive communication, and staff who go above and beyond, including compassionate responses during bereavement. Contrastingly, there are isolated but significant concerns about management responsiveness and incident handling: one serious allegation involves financial mishandling and inadequate external reporting, and other comments point to inconsistent managerial decisions or perceived double standards. These items suggest that while day-to-day resident care is generally strong, the facility’s incident-response and policy-enforcement practices may be uneven.

Recommendation considerations: Prospective residents and families will likely find The Courtyards at Claremore a strong choice for memory-supportive, socially active assisted living when compassionate staff interactions, programming variety, and a homelike environment are priorities. Those needing reliable higher-acuity medical care or who require consistently robust administrative incident handling should probe availability of elevated clinical services, staffing patterns (especially weekends), and the facility’s formal incident-reporting and policy-enforcement procedures during touring and contracting.
